When it comes to long hairstyles and prom, it can be really, really difficult to decide what type of hairstyle to pick. After all, long hairstyles are really unique and vary from person to person. So the question that you probably have is—what are the best and worst long hairstyles for prom?
The Best long hairstyles for prom
Buns: Buns are great because you don’t have to worry about them going much of anywhere. A bun stays in pretty much the same position for the whole dance and isn’t likely to become a problem for other dancers—or you. Not to mention that almost everyone knows how to do a bun.
Low ponytails: Low ponytails are a favorite, because of their simplicity. A low ponytail not only stays out of the way, but is also easy to transform into a bun if it gets way too hot.
Down! You can also wear your hair down. However, this is one of those hairstyles that is extremely likely to get really hot really quickly. What can you do? Well, keep a ponytail holder with you just in case. It will make any emergency, prom-induced hot flashes easy to correct.
The Worst long hairstyles for prom
The high ponytail: It may not seem that different from its cousin the low ponytail, but it’s one of those hairstyles that shouldn’t be worn in high speed sports, at dances, or on roller coasters. After the fifth time someone has accidentally smacked you in the face with their high ponytail, you’ll understand why—they’re a wee bit hazardous.
Pigtails: No. Just no. There’s nothing wrong with this hairstyle when you’re out with your friends, volunteering at the local animal shelter, going to school…but it’s one of those long hairstyles that shouldn’t be worn anywhere near a prom. Save it for a casual day.
Braided bun: If you’re really shaking your booty and whipping your hair back and forth and bringing back the funk…then this isn’t really the hairstyle that you want to have. Let’s face it—a braided bun will end with your hair either a. coming out or b. doing the same thing that a high ponytail would do.
